WOW: LE: Pepping Up My Crosses

WOW = WIPs On Wednesday

I love the fabric choices for my LE crosses, but I was thinking that the yellow on pink was a bit lost, it needed pepping up. I used the rusty coloured thread, which I just loved and had wanted to use on my polka dotty crosses before I found the pink I finally settled on. So I used it here, to outline the inner cross hole.

This is my "before" shot

this is my "after"
 It's a small difference, but I think it makes a big impact!

What's Your WOW ?

  1. I love how you are adding so much to yours. The quilt done simply is lovely but yours is a whole new level.

  5. thank you for that very clever solution to my very problem! I'm going to give this wonderful idea a try on my hearts where I had the same unhappy opinion that the little split just didn't show up. now to decide what color thread to use to Pep them up!

  6. Oh Esther what a fabulous idea to embroider those centers. Wow I might have to go back and do that. I am at a standstill as you know and it is driving me crazy with so much pain when I hand applique.. I might just have to leave the center as is but don't want to. Hugs Bunny

  7. I love how you share your design process, Esther. Most of us, I think, assume that embroidery and embellishment is always preplanned and on purpose -- especially when the finished product is as fantastic as your work! This is an important reminder that even when following a pattern or attempting a faithful reproduction, you still need to step back from your work from time to time and let your quilt tell you when it needs a little something more here or there. That little bit of embroidery really is perfect in this instance.

  8. Yes! I love how the embroidery made them pop! Your work is just so beautiful, Esther. The size of those little circles are nuts! I don't even know if I would attempt that.
