WOW: LE Stitching Down the Berries

WOW = WIPs On Wednesdays

I've completed turning my berries, and now it's time to sew them down. I'm really happy with their shape and I have 96 to sew down. This will take me all of today and probably another two or three days too. It's slow going, but I'm going to put the Quilt Show on my computer in my sewing room and enjoy myself, listening in, whilst I work. Its a nice distraction I often use to help me get through the hours.

I've talked about my habit of running my computer for company whilst I work on these long repetitive tasks before. When my cat Mooshy was alive, she would keep me company and have a good inspection of everything I was doing. I must admit, I do miss having my quilting companion cat nearby at times like these.

How do you entertain yourself when performing repetitive tasks?

What's Your WOW ?

  1. I do hand work with the TV on, when I am designing I like no distractions, when machining either the TV or talk radio will do. I like the cats coming for company when doing hand stitching but when I am prepping with the iron, I shoo them away immediately. I am terrified of them getting burnt.

  2. I just started your Love Entwined BOM. Not for sissy girls that. I've done the center medallion (although I'm going to have to do some "fixing") and now I'm stuck! I'm at the point where I'm going to have to sit down with the instructions and do each thing. The part that's sticking is the band around the medallion. When I have time, I'll give it a try and go to the group if I can't make it work. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the huge amount of work you put into doing this. If I live long enough to finish, it will be my pride and joy!

  3. I almost always have netflix on to listen to series when doing a lot of quilting in the evening, I tend to do hand work with music or more series in the background almost always with something I have seen or does not take a lot of concentration

  4. Netflix. The challenge is finding a series that is interesting, but not necessary to watch constantly. Cake Boss and all the Tattoo series (LA Ink, Miami Ink, etc) do nicely as I love to see the creative outcomes, but can just listen to most of the dialogue.

  7. I love having something to listen to - preferably someone talking. I have the UK radio station Radio 4 on - it has news, drama, documentary and comedy - great for informing and entertaining me!
    I love how perfect your berries are looking, Esther!

  8. I love audio books - its a great way to 'read' novels you don't have time to actually read!

  9. On most days audio books, TV, and music keep me company while stitching. Sometimes working in total silence is refreshing: the view from my window, a grateful heart, and pleasant thoughts all the company I need.

  10. I often listen to audio books while I sew. I can download them to my computer from the local public library. I've been an avid reader all my life, and now can read while I do other tasks too!

  15. I usually do my applique at night while (listening) to whatever hubby is watching or a good football game is on. During the day in my Studio I will watch FOX, OR when that just gets too much I like to watch old Western movies or a good movie that I have seen before... Your work is beautiful Esther and thank you for the wonderful pattern. The quilt will be beautiful.
